Hmm, so maybe this trick is dead, but this got me thinking.

Say I run an ecommerce site. Wouldn’t I want to register every fathomable related term on wordpress.com and then link back with keyword rich anchor text? I would imagine that the presence of the keyword in the URL+keyword in anchor text would definitely help build “relevance” for the ecommerce site.

But alas, by comparison, I am a completely newb. Is my logic correct or not at all?

Yes, they have since implemented a system where a name can not be used again. Seems like a bit of a waste, as someone could register mutli business names or popular company or keyword names, and never use them, make them unavailable to everyone else.
