I can’t help but notice that lately Google has been downsizing their index. Across my network of sites I’ve been loosing indexed pages the last three weeks. It also seems harder to get pages into the index even though Googlebot is still crawling at a regular pace. It’s about time for a pagerank update, and I’m wondering if this has anything to do with it.
Other people seemed to be noticing the same thing, perhaps this is perpetuating the rumors that Google really is running out of space. Although I am finding that people while talking about this, aren’t seeing one possibility. That Google might be upgrading their storage to accomidate Big Daddy. Possibly switching out old storage arrays with new ones. This would cause temporary drops in index size while the new larger storages are being placed.

I doubt so. Google is still reigning in billion dollar revenues.
Don’t look so at the moment.

I do agree with all of the ideas you have presented in your post. They’re really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are too short for newbies. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.
