BlueHatSEO Technique #3: Easy PR5: 1,200+ 1 way links

Posted By Eli On January 18, 2006 @ 9:04 am In Blue Hat Techniques | 69 Comments

1,200+ high quality one way links with no strings attached.

Am I kidding? Nope.

For those of you who don’t know; software is where it’s at. If you have a piece of software and a high quality submission software such as [1] Robosoft (Tedious, but works VERY well) you can instantly gain enough links to ANY page to give you an instant Page Rank of at least 5. Trust me, this is one of my most guarded secrets, and now I’m spilling it to you. You can turn almost any website into a piece of software and submit it to thousands of software sites that will not only post a full description and a link, but give you a dedicated page to your software product that usually pulls an average of PR3, which when combined with the hundreds of other one way links will almost guarantee you a Page Rank of 5.
This raises an instant question. How do I get a piece of software to promote on my site? Turn your entire site, or content portions of your site into an executable with an installer. You can do this easily by searching on your favorite search engine for “HTML to EXE converters. ”

This will give you several advantages:

1) In my experience it will give you at least 1,200+ one way, high quality links.

2) Depending on your market, these sites can send you hundreds of their own visitors a day to your site!

3) A large portion of those visitors will actually download your software. Which allows you to place a permanent bookmark to your site on their browser(don’t put Adware. Just a bookmark. You don’t want to piss off your own visitors). Plus they get a always accessible link to your site and your content on their desktop/start menu.

Note: I give you this information out of confidence. DO NOT ABUSE IT OR YOU WILL LOSE IT! If everyone starts spamming software directories, we all lose. Use this only for high quality sites, and make sure the people who download your software will benefit highly from actually installing your software. Also, for god’s sake DON’T plague their computers with crap you know they don’t want. Make them happy and they will keep your software/bookmark on their computer for many years to come; generating you residual visitors for as long as your site stands.

If you like this article please place a link to http://www.BlueHatSEO.com on your site so more people like you may benefit from these techniques.

I found promotion through PromoSoft very-very effective. It only takes 30 minutes to finish a submission and the result is very sufficient.

Thank you very much for posting this article.

#2 Comment By pepe On December 30, 2006 @ 10:27 am

1200 Backlinks?
How is that?
My version of Promosoft knows 680 sites to submit to.
After choosing the categories it is about 550.
The successful submissions will be around 150.
Could you please verify on how you get those 1200 links?

#3 Comment By Eli On December 30, 2006 @ 12:19 pm

Hi pepe!
As mentioned in the post invidual submission sites tend to host mirrors of themselves. Its a very common tactic in the software directory niche. As old as this post is, 1,200 backlinks is a still very lowballed number. Its not uncommon for your software link to end up on tons of forums and groups along with newsgroups and stuff like that. There are also tons of automated blogs that post recent software being submitted to software directories.

#4 Comment By Ryan On January 18, 2007 @ 1:09 pm

Interesting. Got any examples of software that makes this a viable option?

#5 Comment By BurgerKing On January 23, 2007 @ 8:00 pm

Hi Eli,

OK, I’ve created my exe and I’m ready to go. I’ve got Promosoft (just the trial, for the moment) and all the sites that I want to submit to seem to require an account with RegNow (or another affiliate). If I am wanting to distribute my app as freeware is there going to be a problem with the aff getting 30% of zero?

I realize this is a better question for Promosoft, so I sent it to them. No response…

Great idea, anyway, and I’ll repost with my results.

#12 Comment By WebTech On June 30, 2007 @ 2:20 pm

Thanks for the post. I tested the technique on one of my sites (about 2 weeks ago) but so far haven’t seen a difference in PR ,backlinks or traffic. I read somewhere that too many backlinks in a short space of time have a negative impact or do I just have to wait for Google’s next PR update?
I submitted my site with both programs (demos) and got about 10 succesful submissions with Promosoft and about 70 with Robosoft. (Btw the demo from Robosoft is great, same as full version with a 30 day limit).
Obviously theres many other factors, but perhaps the SE’s see these links as low quality (or spam)?

#13 Comment By John The Artist On July 1, 2007 @ 8:19 pm

WebTech,

I followed the advice and got Promosoft a good while ago. It does work but it takes time and you will need the full version of Promosoft for it to make any significant difference.

Also, don’t expect too much direct traffic from this it’s more about the backlinks (and they are of good quality, no problems there).

#14 Comment By Lars Koudal On July 8, 2007 @ 4:52 pm

Excellent tip! I’ve just tried it out (actually a box is working on submitting using robosoft right now), and I am curious as to the experience of people and the value of this tip? Webtech wrote his observations, but I would like to hear if there are anyone who have done it a while back, to see what their experience is?

#15 Comment By john squires On August 23, 2007 @ 1:50 pm

This is a bit of an old tip, but it looks like it’s got good mileage in it. Strangley no one commented on this really. Does it still work? Is it any good? Anyone let us know? An update perhaps Eli?

I’ve been reading BlueHat for a while now, and it is excellent. I think the problem is that it has TOO MANY ideas, and I don’t have enough time.

Eli, do you run an SEO company, or do this in your spare time, or what?

this doesn’t really work anymore, google is catching on to tricks like this and will almost get your site banned right after you do it, probably the next day. I tried it and thats what happened to me… 3 times. things are getting super competetive folks, don’t quit your day job.

#27 Comment By West Coast Vinyl On June 28, 2009 @ 4:41 pm

Getting started on robosoft, looking forward to seeing the results, I’m more interested in the quantity of links that I can get for a site.

#28 Comment By Janeen On July 3, 2009 @ 4:01 am

Most of my sites are Wordpress blogs. Any idea if this would work for .php files? I suppose it would be easy enough to copy the content of a couple of particularly useful posts into an html file or .doc and compile them into .exe for the purposes stated above.

For all of those commenters that are worried about getting to many backlinks too fast, I think it’s really just an old wife’s tale. Firstly, if (hypothetically speaking) someone of great importance was assassinated and one site broke the story…they’d have 100,000’s of backlinks created within hours, and Google would in NO WAY penalize that site. Quite the contrary. If you publish software available for download that becomes rather popular and 1,200 backlinks are created (even if it’s in one day), who are they to know whether or not you advertised all over the nation with flyers stuck to windshields in Wal*Mart parking lots? Unless they can tell that you are using software and submitting enmass without site owner’s knowledge (unlikely) you won’t be penalized.

I think the commenter above, Jason, perhaps was using some other blue/black hat methods to get backlinks/traffic that may have put him over the edge.

If you are still worried about it, consider submitting a few press releases regarding the software around the net, prior to adding the backlinks. I might also create a page on the site just to talk about the “amazing promotion efforts” of your “team” thanking them about your successful launch of the software - specify a “launch date” that you will use the software to get the backlinks! lol Good luck everyone, and thank you so much Eli. My husband found your site last night and send me a link this morning. He’s a PPC guy, but I do SEO for all his AM landing pages. I’ll definitely be reading more of what you have here…

#29 Comment By Ponyryd On December 4, 2009 @ 12:38 pm

Any thoughts on if this still works?

I am a programmer by trade and have created some simple applications that fit with my niche site. I have been submitting my PAD file with little results in terms of back links. Most of the sites if they are actually maintained only give a nofollow link anyway.

#30 Comment By Scott On December 13, 2009 @ 11:28 pm

I did a little test with this. Bought the full version of PromoSoft from DevLab and submitted a software about 8 weeks ago for two brand new domains.

For the first domain:

I didn’t do any other backlink work to it and since then I’ve gotten over 425 backlinks that show up in the Yahoo Explorer… that doesn’t include the backlinks that aren’t ’showing’, which is probably double to triple that.

Note that I did all of the captchas, which is a tedious process. There are over 60 if you submit to all of the sites (over 800, depending on your software category)

I also made sure to assign a category for each site, and did all of the verifications in my email.

For the second domain:

On another test for another domain I went the lazy route and just submitted to the sites that were auto-categorized and did not do the captchas. That site has about 100 backlinks… so there’s a major difference in DOING IT RIGHT vs. taking the easy route…

Out of all the backlinks that show up for both sites, I titled my software for my keyword phrase, and also used my keyword phrase as the company name. This was to give me the best shot at having anchor text backlinks…

Many of the sites will just link to your pad file, all to the download location, some the full URL of your homepage, and some will link via the anchor text of your software title and/or company name.

The amount of anchor text backlinks I got for the FULL TEST was few, about 10. Almost 2/3 of the backlinks are to the download location of the file or to the pad file, and most of the other 1/3 are direct links to your homepage without anchor text.

This is great though in my opinion for several reasons which I won’t go into full detail here…but basically it gives you a very diverse backlink foundation so that you can be even more aggressive with targeting your anchor text with backlinks from locations you have more control over (like blog comments, article directories, third party websites, social profiles, etc.)

I’m not going to share the URLs of these two sites, but I will say both rank well as 10 page websites for most of the keywords I was going after.

So, for $97 PromoSoft is a deal if you’re going to use it. That’s like $.25 a link if you only use it ONCE.

Hope that helps the doubters… no sandbox issues for me, either.

Cheers,

Scott

I’ve been using Robosoft and it works nice really… but the problem is that I’ve never received a PR5… the best thing I did was PR4 and now, I noticed that this method has became less efficient than what it used to be… one of my websites which I used Robosoft to submit it, has got PR1 :p …. not exactly what I was hoping for…

What I’m thinking is that Google is encouraging webmasters to use “nofollow” correct? so, it’s natural that all webmasters will be moving to use that… to preserve their “PR” correct? but what happens at the end? I believe Google who depends mainly on external links to rank a website will have to ignore the “nofollow” eventually… otherwise, at the end, Google will not find any links to follow in a couple years …. am I correct?

#34 Comment By Arlington VA Real Estate On August 19, 2010 @ 2:50 pm

This program would probably work for both PC and Macs. If not, there’s probably a patch or some kind of a hack out there that you can use to get it.
