I find a good tactic is to find all the backlinks to your competitors that are in common and grab a link from the source as well. There are tools out there that you can input a few competitors URL’s into and it will show you what backlinks they have in common, as well as the popularity of each link. I’ve found this very valuable in my marketing efforts at least.

Sorry “negative results” or “negative rankings” are the results inside of the regular results that Google puts in.
Such as:
Video Results
Image Results
News Results
Product Results
Blog Results

Nice tips. I use wordpress a lot for small shops, as I find it indexs a lot quicker than other most ecommerce platforms. Usually with 2-3 hours of publishing the products they start ranking in search engines. So a keyword rich URL is perfect for flogging those products. I wouldn’t recommend wordpress for larger shops, maybe Magento is the best around for SEO that I know of.

few more tips for eCommerce sites: Product images should be renamed with the product itself not product ID. Create a product feed and submit it to relevant content aggregators. Google Base accepts an XML like product feed and displays your results for Google Base searches. Product feeds can be a great way of picking up free backlinks directly to your product pages.

It’s very difficult to have success with an online web shop. The competition is daily much stronger but if you follow these steps I am sure that you will have good results in short time.

ahh, i wish seo had less to do with actually submitting articles and more with actual content, google keep changing their bot, i must say linking has even become more important with the caffeine update but also activity, its activity + content + links, if you have a 99% bounce rate google will drop your page rank, and this makes sense because it means you dont have good content, take me for instance, i have been on this site for 1min or more which means google can see people actually find usefull content, i think activity was a great google caffeine adition

I’ve actually seen this done many times with Joomla templates but not something we’ve got round to doing yet.
