How do people index search results?

While i was browsing some highly ranking affiliate sites i came across a backlink^IME002^YY^US&shad=s_0043&gct=ds&apn_ptnrs=^AG2&d=2-0&lang=en&atb=sysid%3D2%3Auid%3D20798994b0b2b190%3Asrc%3Dieb%3Ao%3DAPN10641%3Ab%3DBearShare%3Atg%3D&p2=^AG2^IME002^YY^US

Long backlink. however its indexed in google and it seems to be a search result for a different search engine. Im wondering how its indexed? im assuming gsa ser blast to whatever results page you want to get indexed but i just wanted to confirm.

Search engines have two major functions: crawling and building an index, and providing search users with a ranked list of the websites they’ve determined are the most relevant.Links allow the search engines’ automated robots, called “crawlers” or “spiders,” to reach the many billions of interconnected documents on the web.
