Updates Coming

Posted By Eli On August 16, 2007 @ 12:43 pm In Announcements | 125 Comments

More updates are coming soon. I got some great guest posts coming up and I’m currently finishing up on a HUGE post that I’ve been working on for the last month. You bet your ass it’s big but I selfishly think its the most important must-read post in the entire industry. So I want to do a good job on it. In the meantime read this [1] Mark.

By and by! If anyone has a good radio voice and would like to donate it to making my upcoming big post a mp3 podcast please email me Eli at BlueHatSEO dot Com. I’ll send you the post a couple days early. It’s very long and should be covered at least twice to digest all the information, and I’d hate to force everyone into only having the option of reading it.

Miss Ya’ll!

I’ve been lurking for a while, but seriously - this is one of the best blogs I’ve read in a while.

I’m working on creating a system that will create sites based on a single keyword, and promote them automatically. The tips and tricks throughout this blog are coming in really handy. Awesome job!

#16 Comment By Eli On August 22, 2007 @ 1:42 pm

Whewww. Getting closer. I’m on page 11 so far. I’m wondering if I should just separate this out into separate posts or something. I hope you guys love ebooks :)

The first line is “This is exactly how I make money online.” Then it just kind of escalates from there into every facet of my online business and explains it. It’s definitely the most candid post i’ve ever written, but that translates into very lengthy for sure.

If you guys/gals haven’t taken the time to brush up on the archives in this blog now is definitely the time. It makes a lot of references.

#17 Comment By ehlo On August 23, 2007 @ 3:05 am

Can’t wait! Please don’t split the article into several posts, I don’t think I could stand a “To be continued…”! :)

#21 Comment By Eli On August 23, 2007 @ 7:26 pm

I’ve told him about 11 times now that if he doesn’t quit posting bullshit on my blog i was going to start deleting his comments. It’s been almost a year now of his pessimistic crap. I don’t care what he posts at this point every last one is getting deleted. I don’t give a shit if he posts a damn treasure map. If you’re interested in reading his thoughts check out his blog. He wrote them out in much more depth on there rather than just a “you suck.”

Wish i could understand your motivation man. But no complaints. Can translate into LAMP if required. Want to talk about so-called trust rank? Regards..

#31 Comment By Eli On August 31, 2007 @ 6:03 am

my motivation is really just whats covered in the happy birthday post, the post covers a bit of trust rank but it more importantly covers my entire seo strategy. The first line is “this is exactly how i make money.” I know the updates haven’t been coming lately but the reality is i’m blogging more than I ever have its just huge. It’s fun though. A great way to vent. Thanks for all the encouraging comments. it’s really motivating me to get it written. :)

Really looking forward to this soon-to-be legendary post! Based on the pure gold you’ve provided us with on this blog already, I can only imagine how awesome this one is going to be.

*continues holding breath in anticipation*

#33 Comment By webninja On September 1, 2007 @ 10:01 am

Maybe it would be better if you posted one chapter per post instead of one giant post (just name them - Part 1.. 2, etc). That way you could revise your future posts based on the comments you get on the last post (in case people misunderstand something, etc). And this will also create more buzz, and you could use that for each next post.

Shorter posts will also be easier for people to read and reflect upon what you wrote, and result in fewer misunderstandings, less ramble, etc. Finally it would give you more time to write the rest of the story without keeping people waiting for too long.

Anyway, looking forward to it :)

Help! I’m suppose to add 6 and 10?!

#41 Comment By Eli On September 5, 2007 @ 10:39 pm

lol don’t panic I’ll step you through this!

First make sure you have at least 6 fingers by counting them.

Next make sure you have at least 10 fingers.

Count out six fingers and remember what finger you left off on by holding your hand in front of your face and wiggling that last finger around. Then start counting from that finger and count 10 more fingers. IF you run out of fingers stop. Wiggle all your fingers and remember 10…10..10. Then make a fist with both hands. Start with your first finger then say 11 instead of 1. Continue until you have reached your 10 count.

On a side note, I’m splitting the post into three posts. Part one is almost complete. I just have to make some modifications and send it to the podcast peeps. Should be up by the end of the week.

#42 Comment By Farmer On September 6, 2007 @ 4:21 pm

Thanks for the tip. It came out perfect at 19.3 :D

Can’t wait for the post…haven’t had anything really interesting to read for awhile.

Oh yeah…I cheated this time and used a calculator to add 8 and 1 to get my lucky number 7!

#43 Comment By chris On September 7, 2007 @ 3:37 am

You know Eli, I’ve never quite understood the point of these text captchas. I remember reading on one forum some bright chap who said ‘yea and make the the math really hard so nobody can write a bot to do it’ and I just about peed myself.

Now, I’ll agree that captchas are retarded (and very breakable), but writing a simple script to fill in the blanks on the ‘Please add X and Y’.. is not exactly the hardest thing in the world.

Do you do it only to deter general scripts to seekout wordpress blogs and post comments, or do you honestly think that this measure of ‘protection’ really deters anyone? (I am going to assume you are just stopping blanket wordpress scanners)

#44 Comment By chris On September 7, 2007 @ 3:39 am

ugh. I just wrote a very long post asking you about why your captcha is so lame, and why you even chose to have one at all, but your blog decided to ditch my post without any reason why. I assume it is to just stop blanket wordpress attacks, because it couldnt stop any script written in 5 minutes for this particular captcha.. and I’m sure you know that.

#45 Comment By Farmer On September 7, 2007 @ 4:21 am

Just admit it…you didn’t follow Eli’s advice on how to add the two numbers! :D

#48 Comment By Eli On September 7, 2007 @ 5:08 am

lol you gotta admit this is pretty humorous :)

“do you honestly think that this measure of ‘protection’ really deters anyone?”

very next comment

“your blog decided to ditch my post without any reason why.”
it got caught in the askimet filter :)

sorry but it really is hilarious when you think about it. I recovered your comment though.

#49 Comment By chris On September 7, 2007 @ 6:24 am

I’m not trying to comment on your akismet method at all. I am commenting why have an obvious captcha that does not affect the effectiveness of your akismet filter.

Yes, it is pretty humorous, but my original post was certainly not spam at all, but your filter decided to filter it anyway, which is not a good thing that they did so. I see many posts that get filtered on your site and the poster is outraged when obviously they are attempting to post a relevant comment. It probably catches spam, but also filters a lot of good content. :)

like this current message that I’ve posted 3 times.. bah!

#51 Comment By chris On September 7, 2007 @ 6:27 am

Well.. fck me.. it did post that comment.. I do apologize for the duplicate post, feel free to remove it, but your commenting system decided not to show it on first or second post :)

#52 Comment By chris On September 7, 2007 @ 6:33 am

Ok, I guess I just cannot add :) (no, i really did add correctly)

However, there are issues with it as far as usability. Yes you can recover the comments as you did above, but the user (myself) sees that no comment is posted and just gets annoyed or thinks it didn’t go through.

The result is I’ve posted like 5 comments (including ones to explain myself so I don’t look to be a tool), where one would have sufficed.

#53 Comment By Eli On September 7, 2007 @ 6:41 am

true that. It happens to the best of us. Askimet is definitely no savior. This blog gets a shitton of spam.

#54 Comment By Eli On September 7, 2007 @ 6:42 am

if you register an account your comment will go through every time and it won’t ask for the math question.

#68 Comment By Papa Roach On December 13, 2007 @ 3:38 am

I focused on a comparison between pros and cons. Most of community sites fail - sounds very discouraging but given the community member loyalty and the possibility to build relationships, it’s worth the efforts. Hard to launch means it will be difficult in the beginning but I don’t expect profitable jobs to be easy. Except for that if the community starts working for itself (it’s self-sustainable) this means that the hard job will be followed by an opportunity to rest a bit and enjoy the result of your efforts. Yes, the pros win.

There are a lot of sites out there showing book video. BookVideoTV, BookTelevision and of course CSPAN, but I like how BN.com and Reader’s Entertainment TV have specific genre channels and original shows. There’s just more to see and I can be specific in what genre I’m interested in. Anyone else watch online tv?
