User Contributed-How To Get A Link In Wikipedia (my post on syndk8.net)
User Contributed: Rose Water
Sheesh, he posted two brilliant articles on this subject.
When adding links to the articles listed on “what links here”, as eli at bluehatseo recommended, if you add your link to the first listed articles they will probably be deleted, because the “what links here” widget lists the most popular or most edited articles first or some sort of popularity metric. To spell it out for you guys, add your link to the bottom-most non-talk-page articles first. Even if that article isn’t closely-related to your niche, it is usually tangientially-related. Then go up the list adding another link on another day. Also, I’ve found my precise phrase (eg: “quoted phrase”) on wikipedia in a completely unrelated article, and changed that phrase in the article into a link to my site, and no one has noticed for a month. Remember, find articles with the fewest edits or no recent edits, because you want articles where no one is anymore personally attached to their articles/edits!
for example:
blue river valley corporation
becomes:
blue [http://www.mysite.com river valley] corporationthe howto:

part four is forthcoming. Here is the original

Thanks for the great how to article. This is definitely a good thing to try and was never mentioned in the other Wikipedia guides.
Wikipedia is great for links. Nice articles, I’ve been enjoying toying around with links on Squidoo lately too
I’ve been doing this for a while too. But in my case I usually just pot a direct link at the bottom or somewhere in the page where it sounds right.
Thank you
Shouldn’t I at least get a non-nofollow link for my contribution?
Sorry,
you didn’t include a link with your contrib so i didn’t know where to link to. For future reference
thanks for the contribution!
Hi, did I get my post deleted? Could you explain why a non-follow link is a help with SEO?
sorry, eli
I added the link in the “website” field.
The website is: http://www.royalessence.com/
Or preferably add this:
rose water
I thought adding html would be considered as spam
Nah,
Feel free to make the post however you want with whatever html you want. Links to examples and other resources that are useful as well as links that give you proper credit are encouraged. Theres no need to worry beyond that. If there’s something I don’t like I’ll be sure to remove it
Have you ever had anyone edit out your links? I’ve only added one link to Wikipedia for a site I own, and it’s because I felt it was useful. Obviously that’s the best way to go about it, but I’m wondering if anyone has ever edited out your links.
Wikipedia editors can be a real hassle.
Imagine, I posted a link to my blog to the German wikipedia site. It is about an Indian film actor (crap one). Due to the subject, my website was slightly offensive. My link was deleted the next minute! WTF, those fans should get a job (well, in this case they may be below 14)
Thank you for the information - to all of you!
